Overview
Flexible heteroarotinoids (Flex-Hets). This is very much in the research stage and tests have only been conducted in the laboratory and no clinical trials have started. The NCI has awarded the Oaklahoma University a $2milion grant for it's cancer research and at least 3 clinical trials have been planned for the future.
The compound in question is know as SHetA2 which is a Synthetic Heteroarotinoid and a derivative of vitamin A.
In vivo studies demonstrated that Flex-Hets induce differentiation and inhibit tumor growth and angiogenesis without evidence of toxicity, skin irritation or teratogenicity.
